Family Owned Since 1956
Working as a police officer in the early 1950s, Jack Stevenson’s path changed significantly when he took a sales job with Hoffman Houses to provide for his family.
That decision soon bloomed into him buying the cleaning supply arm of Hoffman Houses, and sparked what is today known as KleenMark – one of the largest independent commercial cleaning companies in the Midwest.
Today, Jack’s commitment to excellence and customer service lives on through our employees and our president, Scott Stevenson. Cleaning over 25 million square feet daily, our crews provide premium services for some of the largest healthcare companies, manufacturers and commercial offices in the region.
Key Moments in KleenMark History
1956
Jack Stevenson Takes the Helm
Our founder, Jack Stevenson, buys a small janitorial supply company with partner John Dorzio. They focus on bars and restaurants, providing cleaning chemicals and supplies throughout Dane County.
1957
Expanding to New Industries
The business officially changes its name to Hoffman Chemicals and begins to focus on distributing supplies to offices and schools. Soon after, they land their largest client, S.C. Johnson Wax, and the business takes off.
1961
IBM’s Needs Spark a New Service
Needing cleaners after dealing with internal staffing issues in their Madison location, IBM reaches out to see if we can help. Determined to meet their client needs, Hoffman Chemicals provides staff to clean IBM. The job results in the creation of a new commercial cleaning company, DnS, that’s a sister organization to Hoffman Chemicals.
1986
Our President Cuts His Cleaning Teeth
At 16 years old, our current president and owner, Scott Stevenson, begins working for his dad. Working as a cleaner, Scott learns the ins and outs of the business.
2005
The KleenMark Brand is Unveiled
Following the retirement of his dad and brother, Scott renames the organization. As KleenMark, the focus is on providing outstanding service to customers throughout Wisconsin. The famous “KleenMark Green” represents a commitment to green cleaning. “You’ll Know it’s Kleen” is established as the company’s mantra.
2006
Expanding to Meet Customer Needs
Already operating in Madison and the Fox Valley, KleenMark expands to Milwaukee and central Wisconsin, providing commercial cleaning services and supplies for some of Wisconsin’s largest corporations.
